| Philippe Rombi is my favorite of all currently working composers (save for some of the older American fellows like John Williams). His scores have actual melodies, are gorgeously orchestrated, and sound like real film music instead of the droning nothingness of most of today's scores. All his scores are top-notch, but his score to Francois Ozon's Angel has rarely been out of my player since I got it over six months ago. | |

| Recent title, "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" which seems to be unreleased on CD. Very melodic, too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypl0qgdAt2c What a shame the film will probably never make it to the US. Hopefully, they'll get around to releasing the soundtrack, because it sounds wonderful. Is there a complete list somewhere of Rombi CDs?

The film "Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis" is a blockbuster in France, a incredibly phenomenal commercial success ! Thanks for your kind words! (I've sent you a message because of the 'double Gainsbourg'.) "Bienvenue..." received also excellent reviews here in Switzerland. I love the picture very much. So I'm not sure if it's really good news for the US, but Will Smiths has apparently bought the rights to do a remake, settled in the South.

:-) Do you know if "Ch'tis" will be released on CD? Unfortunatelly I don't have any contacts that could confirm either way... the film will be released on the DVD at the end of October so I am still hoping that the score might be released to coincide with release of the DVD, but no idea

I hope they have English subs on the DVD - if someone could let me know that would be great. It's now obvious why this film isn't going to be shown in the US if it's getting an American remake in which, I'm sure, they will make everything completely crass and unfunny.

| A few months ago, Rombi said in a French ITV his wish that a CD would be added as a bonus with the DVD of BIENVENUE CHEZ LES CH'TIS... (his score is quite short, so a commercial CD containing only this particular score is nearly impossible). Wait and see... Best regards Jean-Francois Houben | |

| I thought there were about 20 minutes of original score in it. Very elegant title sequence, by the way. In the past, there were always some very short soundtrack albums released. For instance, "Hors de prix" (ca. 23 min.) by Camilly Bazbaz which I like very much, or, "À la petite semaine" (ca. 17 min[!]) by Pierre Adenot. So, I would not mind if the Rombi album would be that much on a short side. It's the quality that matters really.
The life music played by Dany Boon in the film, has it been arranged by Rombi as well? That would be nice to hear on CD, too.
The Brel song should not be absent from a soundtrack release either.
Anyway, I'll certanly by the DVD. That's a keeper for me.

| Or it could be simply combined with some other of his recent scores. There is quite a few of his scores waiting to be discovered. The CD as a bonus to DVD is a good idea. Although any idea which could lead to having the score, would be fine | |

That's true, even if his scores are, maybe, a little too classic. But it's fresh in the current situation. "Angel", "Jeux d'Enfants" and "Une Hirondelle a fait le Printemps" are very good .

In English, please. Sorry Haines, I haven't switched the language mode. I said that I found the musique from "Hirondelle" not that intereting (rather bland) when I listened to it on CD. kfigaro replied to my remark that he disliked the musique, too.

| Excellent news! The films still going strong in Swiss theatres, for weeks now. Which is rare for French movies.
It must be a short CD program. Maybe they'll add dialog to fill the space. But I hope not.
