| I had eagerly anticipated this double-score CD as I had always wanted to see the two United Artists EP recordings for RIO combined on CD (the French EP contained 3 tracks; the UK EP contained 6 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT tracks !) How disappointed I was, then, to see the producer only utilized a couple of tracks from each, then filled the CD with " source " music by Desplat. Granted the " source " music was supposedly composed by Delerue, but I wanted as much " dramatic original score " music as possible on this CD !! I was surprised to see that CHINOIS actually contained about 5 minutes more music than was on the LP. But what about this missing score music from RIO?? If the master tapes couldn't be located, then a disc-dub from a good EP would have sufficed...... | |

| Welcome Shureman ! I was as disappointed as you when I've noted that S.Lerouge, the producer had not only curtailed the "Main title" (which completely appear on compilation "The cinema of Philippe de Broca - volume 1" !!!) but that he had purely and simply removed several tracks of the two EP (the UK EP proposes primarily the "pit music" while the French EP is satisfied with source music) in a incomprehensible and arbitrary way (like often !) and compensate this lack by adding new tracks of source directed by Alexandre Desplat. So I agree entirely with your report, the tapes are missing but I does not understand why Mr. Lerouge did not use the masters original EP and this in their entirety ! The Universal editions proposes since 2000 astounding contents but do not explain enough their discographics choices and their work of production, In fact they are always from "mainstream" point of view whereas their collection is more probably addressed to "specialists" and to "esthetes" of film music. | |

| I, too, was so looking forward to the release. I have the two EPs and I love them dearly (and have transfered them to CD, of course). And, like you, I was totally disappointed in what was on the CD. L'Homme de Rio is one of my all-time favorite films and scores - what a shame. | |

| And now it is available on Kritzerland - That Man From Rio - complete - from the original tapes (not composer backup tapes) - score runs over fifty minutes, plus twenty minutes of bonus tracks - over seventy minutes in all. Available now at www.kritzerland.com. Only 1000 of them, so don't wait. | |

| So did I Mr. Kimmel, I noticed that three of the six tracks of the UK EP ("Adrian Attacks", "Chase to Orly Airport" and "Attack by Indians") are not included in the Kritzerland's CD. Were the names changed ? | |

Mr. Kimmel, I noticed that three of the six tracks of the UK EP ("Adrian Attacks", "Chase to Orly Airport" and "Attack by Indians") are not included in the Kritzerland's CD. Were the names changed ? I responded in the other thread - the tracks are the same but I did rename them - the titles were arbitrary on the EP release, and the music didn't really match up with the way it was used in the film, so I retitled all the tracks that didn't match - I tried to be very true to the film sequence - not always possible, though, as you get to much Brazilian music in a row if you're really faithful to it - I spent one very long sixteen hour day editing cues together and making it a coherent listening experience, which I hope everyone will like - it really is very true to the film with the exception of one or two things where I had to be creative. I love the score so much and it was a dream come true. | |
